Engineering selection guide
A machine guard model is most useful when the CAD, BOM and enquiry describe the same configuration. Downloading a visually similar panel and rebuilding the details later creates another opportunity for the engineering and purchasing references to diverge. Start with the required size and supply scope, then keep that reference with the project.

Download the exact MG20 trial configuration
- Open the MG20 guarding configurator and select a 600, 800, 1000, 1200 or 1500 mm-wide panel. The trial panel height is 1900 mm.
- Choose Panel only or Standalone bay kit. The provisional standalone-bay BOM represents one panel, two posts with bases and four brackets; anchors are excluded.
- Select the finish and quantity. Enter the requested RAL value when choosing a custom finish.
- Choose STEP, DXF or PDF, open the CAD request and complete the contact form. After a successful Submit and download submission, the site starts the selected-file download. Use Download again if the browser blocks the automatic transfer.
- Retain the selected filename and the configuration summary with the project. Request the other formats separately when needed.
For example, MG20-P-H1900-W1000-TRIAL-E.step identifies the current 1000 mm-wide panel trial geometry. The bay equivalent uses BAY in place of P. A finish suffix belongs to the order reference; changing colour does not require another copy of identical geometry. Keep custom RAL entries with the order details because a custom code alone does not identify the shade.
Check the imported model in your assembly
Import results depend on the CAD application and its options. Autodesk documents STEP import settings and translation-quality reporting for Inventor; review the import report where available. Autodesk STEP/IGES import reference.
- Measure a known overall dimension immediately after import. Resolve any unit or scale mismatch before laying out the perimeter.
- Set the intended floor plane and position the panel, posts and bases from meaningful datums.
- Check clashes with machine feet, cable trays, conveyors, service covers and the moving envelope.
- Allow for panel removal and access to fixings. Check base and provisional hole positions against the actual floor.
- Keep safety separation and access openings as explicit review items; a clash-free model does not demonstrate a safe guard layout.
Guard design and selection require a broader assessment than geometric fit. ISO 14120:2015 addresses guard construction and selection, while ISO 12100:2010 provides the machinery risk-assessment framework.
Carry the same reference into procurement
Export the BOM CSV and attach the selected PDF or layout to the RFQ. State quantities, panel and support colours, requested delivery location and any access or interface requirements. Avoid silently editing a standard CAD file and quoting its original order code: identify the change so the quotation can address the intended design.
Current downloads are trial files for concept evaluation while production models are being developed. They are not released manufacturing or installation documents. Configure, request the trial CAD and prepare a quotation enquiry using one consistent reference.
